Payment can be made by cash, or online by credit or debit card. If either you or myself needs to cancel or re-arrange a lesson at least 24 hours' notice will be required for single lessons of up to two hours duration. Longer lessons need a minimum of four days' notice.

Failure to give notice will result in a valid claim for an equivalent value in compensation (i.e. a cancellation fee will be charged or credited) I will do everything possible to ensure that your lessons start and finish on time, but I reserve the right to cancel, postpone or change lesson lengths and start/finish times under certain circumstances (e.g. dangerous weather conditions). In the event of postponement, fees paid in advance will be carried forward. The instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if it is suspected that the pupil may be unfit due to the effects of alcohol, drugs (prescribed or otherwise) or any other condition that would cause his/her driving to be dangerous or illegal. In such circumstances the lesson fee will be payable.

Pupils will get 1 chance and any additional lat cancellations on weekend will result in no more weekend lessons for that pupil .

I accept the terms & conditions

Bookings and lesson duration

Your instructor will endeavour to maintain regular lesson slots at the same time each week to ensure continuity of learning, however, this cannot be guaranteed. The minimum lesson period is one hour. If, for any reason, the instructor is late for the lesson he/she will make a concerted effort to inform the pupil of the estimated time of arrival. If the delay is greater than 15 minutes this time will be credited to the pupil and when possible the lesson will be extended by the time due – if this is not possible the extra time will be carried forward to the next suitable lesson.
If you have any issues with timings or duration of lessons it it the pupils responsibility to make them know to the instructor at once other wise any problems can not be sorted out.

Training location and vehicles

All sessions will start and finish at the same location unless alternative arrangements are made in advance. The instructor will determine a location for practical lessons which ensures both the pupil’s and public safety – this means that the instructor may need to drive the pupil to and from the lesson location; this journey time forms part of the lesson as paid for.

Training vehicles provided by the school are taxed, insured for the purposes of driving tuition, fully roadworthy and fitted with dual controls. Pupils who require tuition in their own vehicle must supply evidence from their motor insurer that the car is covered for lessons when being supervised by a professional instructor in return for payment; the car must also be taxed and hold a current MOT certificate where appropriate.

Driving tests and bookings

Your instructor reserves the right to refuse use of a driving school vehicle for the test if he/she considers that provision of a vehicle could cause a risk to public safety. Where a school car is used for a test, the booking period will be based upon the instructor’s normal diary schedule. Depending on the time of the test this will require a minimum two hour booking and possibly longer.
If you decide to cancel your test for whatever reason 5 clear working days notice MUST be given to your instructor otherwise full test day fee with be charged.

First lesson cancellation: If you are booked for the first lesson and decide to cancel late then a fee will be charged against you. And will be taken off any prepaid amounts.
All cancellation fees are charged at the instructor’s discretion.

Covid-19

Due to the lockdown has meant that you haven’t been able to head out with our instructors, there has been a group that has been allowed to continue taking lessons and tests: Key workers.
Think nurses, teachers and the other critical people who have stepped up and looked out for us during these tough times.
To ensure that they – and their instructors – have the safest possible lessons, guidance has been published by driving instructor collective NASP (National Associations Strategic Partnership) to help instructors deliver lessons in a format that reduces the risk posed by the inherent lack of social distancing in cars.
The document also offers vital insights into what a driving lesson will be like once you’re finally allowed to head out with your instructor again; NASP believes there there is the potential of returning to a ‘wider level of training’ at the beginning of July as the lockdown eases (see below).
Here’s what a typical lesson will look like once restrictions are eased:

What to expect on the day of your driving lesson

On the day of the lesson, your instructor will call or text you, asking if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of COVID-19 within the last seven days – or have been in contact with someone who has within the last 14 days.
If you have, your lesson will be cancelled. Remember, even if you feel fine, you could one of the many people who don’t show any symptoms, and by continuing with a lesson, you could endanger your instructor’s life.

What you should do before your driving lesson

If you’re given the all-clear for the lesson to go ahead, your instructor will advise you to do the following:

• Wear clothing that covers as much of your body as possible, including your arms and legs. You should also wrap up warm during cold spells as the windows will most likely be open during the lesson to improve ventilation.

• Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds immediately before leaving your home for your lesson. Your instructor WILL be washing his hands before your lesson.

• Wear disposable gloves if you wish to – but only put them on just before getting into the car. However it. Is recommended not to wear gloves due to cross contamination.

• Meet the instructor by the car itself, and not by your front door.

• Expect the instructor to chat with you before you’re allowed to get in the car; this is an opportunity for them to check that you are not displaying any symptoms, and to also check you have washed your hands (or have brought hand sanitiser with you).
Hand Sanitiser is provided in the car if you forget .

• Expect the instructor to have this chat with you at the beginning of each and every lesson. If the instructor is not 100% happy, they will cancel your lesson on the spot. Please don’t take it personally – we are just trying to keep everyone safe.

• If you are a new client, you will be asked to hold up your provisional driving licence so the instructor can check.

Your instructor will tell you that key surfaces inside and outside the car have been cleaned. These include: Internal and external door handles • windows/mirror controls • seat/head restraints • seatbelt and its connection • gear lever • steering wheel • indicator and wiper stalks • car keys • training resources.

What your instructor will be doing during your driving lesson

To reduce risk during the lesson, the instructor will:

• Hold up any visual aids or training resources, instead of passing them between the two of you.

• Ensure neither of you face each other directly when talking about scenarios; remaining face forward is the safest option when a 2-metre gap between two people cannot be maintained.

• Make sure no devices are shared such as pens with the instructor giving any brief notes digitally via text or email where possible.

• Wipe down the car’s controls if and when the instructor has completed giving you a demonstration drive.

• Ask you to make any payments electronically, and not in cash, where possible.

So what about personal protective equipment?

Initially it will be your responsibility to provide PPE however your instructor will have some supplies of PPE but this will be at a cost

Do tell your instructor if you have an allergy to latex before the lesson. However the wearing of latex gloves are NOT recommended due to cross contamination
Also, you may request that your instructor wears a face covering during the lesson for your peace of mind.

Because face coverings are now required by law on public transport, this is something that should be discussed before the day of your lesson, your instructor WILL be wearing a face covering.

What you should do after your driving lesson

As you depart, remember not to shake hands and once you’re back home, do wash your hands as soon as possible. You may also wish to wash the clothes you wore during your lesson immediately.

That all sounds pretty strict, right?

Yes, but remember – these restrictions are there to keep you and myself safe from harm, and they won’t be in place forever.

Also, do bear in mind that the July start date for lessons resuming is subject to change depending on the latest government advice.
